Financial Aid Questions & Answers



Q: Who should complete the original Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the RENEWAL FAFSA?

A: Any student who has applied for admission and is requesting financial assistance from NDSU. If you have questions about your admission status, please contact the Office of Admission at 1-800-488-6378 or (701) 231-8643.



Q: Are there DEADLINE dates for completing the FAFSA?

A: Yes. For priority consideration, we recommend you submit the electronic FAFSA no later than March 1, to ensure processing by March 15. The Pell Grant and Stafford Loan programs are not subject to this deadline date.




Q: What are the ESTIMATED EXPENSES to attend NDSU?

Q: When can I expect my AWARD NOTICE?

A: Early applicants who have their FAFSA processed by late May will receive their initial Award Notice early June. If your FAFSA was processed on or after June 1, you may expect to receive your Award Notice approximately four weeks after NDSU receives your application information.



Q: When should I update my ADDRESS?

A: Students should review and update all addresses IMMEDIATELY after they have moved. Address changes must be made by the student on their campus connection portal.



Q: May I update my MARITAL STATUS?

A: For the current academic year, You may NOT update your status from single to married once you have signed and dated your FAFSA. However, you may update your status from married to separated/divorced by completing a Special Circumstances Form available at the Office of Student Financial Services.



Q: If I attend NDSU during my senior year in HIGH SCHOOL, am I eligible to receive financial aid?

A: No. A student who attends high school and college concurrently is NOT eligible to receive federal financial aid.



Q: What if I plan to attend SUMMER school?

A: Complete a Summer School Financial Aid Application available after March 15.
