To be eligible for department and College scholarships, applicants must be declared, professional-level allied sciences majors enrolled at NDSU and in good academic and conduct standing in the College of Health and Human Sciences.

Allied Sciences Alumni & Friends 
Scholarships awarded on the basis of academic achievement, merit and need.  Funding for these scholarships is provided by annual alumni and friends contributions.  Applications and deadline information are available online through Academic Scholarship Application Program (ASAP) .

CAPP Scholarship 
Awards to Allied Sciences interns based on *C*ommitment to their major, putting *A*dvice to *P*ractice, and *P*erseverance.  Applications and deadline information are available online through Academic Scholarship Application Program (ASAP) .

Dean's Scholarship 
An award based on academic achievement, extracurricular involvement and leadership within the college is given to each Allied Sciences major, for a total of three awards.  Applications and deadline information are available online through Academic Scholarship Application Program (ASAP) .

Mary Jo Langenwalter CLS Scholarship
Mary Jo Langenwalter, a Wahpeton native, was an employee of MeritCare Transplant Services and was very active in the laboratory science field, as well as in many civic and charitable activities. She believed strongly in education and helping others. Tuition scholarships are awarded by the Sanford Health Foundation in her memory and are based primarily on financial need. Students who have been accepted into the internship at Sanford Health-Fargo are eligible to apply before they begin the internship.  Deadline is determined by Sanford Health.

North Dakota Society for CLS
Student ASCLS/NDCLS members who are currently enrolled in their final year of an accredited medical laboratory science program in North Dakota are eligible. The number and amount of the scholarships are approved by the NDSCLS on an annual basis. Applications are available each spring from the NDSCLS secretary/treasurer. An application, brief essay, and transcript of MLS program grades are required. 

Respiratory Care (Only) Scholarships

Lambda Beta Scholarships 
The Lambda Beta Society awards four scholarships to respiratory care students in recognition of academic excellence. Three of these scholarships are funded by Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc. (AMP), the NBRC's subsidiary, and one scholarship is directly sponsored by Lambda Beta. Applications are mailed annually in August to all Lambda Beta chapters located at accredited respiratory care education programs, i.e. Sanford Health Fargo. The Lambda Beta Board of Directors will select scholarship winners. Recipients will be announced in November and honored during the annual Lambda Beta Reception held during the AARC International Congress.

Morris Opp Scholarship
Morris Opp was a respiratory therapist at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND, from October 1983 to May 1987. He completed respiratory therapy school at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, in 1977 and became registered in 1979. After completing the respiratory therapy program, he completed his bachelor's degree at Augustana College, Sioux Falls. He worked as a respiratory therapist in South Dakota until beginning work at MeritCare Hospital. Morris had been previously diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, but at the time he joined the staff at MeritCare, he was in remission.

Morris eventually moved into a position as supervisor of the float team in the respiratory care department. He was well respected by his employees and peer associates as a therapist and leader in the department. Morris was active in the professional society, serving as the treasurer of the Dakota Society for Respiratory Therapy during the mid-1980s. In 1987, hoping for a cure of his Hodgkin's disease, Morris pursued the possibility of a bone marrow transplant. This was performed in Omaha, Nebraska, in May of 1987. Following the surgery, and the subsequent chemotherapy, Morris developed numerous complications and died on May 12, 1987. Morris is remembered for his love of life and positive attitude, his awesome sense of humor, and the way he treated others with a sense of respect and fairness. In honor of his memory as a respected professional and friend, the North Dakota Society for Respiratory Care established the Morris Opp Scholarship, which is presented annually to a deserving student enrolled in a respiratory care program in North Dakota.

Applicants will be AARC/NDSRC members.  Applications will be reviewed anonymously by a committee and recipients selected based on the following criteria:

Michael Sologuk Memorial Scholarship
The Michael Sologuk Memorial Scholarship in Respiratory Therapy was established in memory of Michael Sologuk by his family and friends in January 2000. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote education and understanding of cystic fibrosis among respiratory therapists. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disorder that affects many functions of the body: breathing, digestion and reproduction, and is the #1 genetic killer of young people.

Mike Sologuk, a life-long resident of North Dakota, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was in second grade. Although his health was always a concern, he married and raised a family. In 1992, he took a medical retirement from Sears due to his growing respiratory problems. In 1996, he qualified for a bilateral lung transplant, and on July 5, 1997, he received a call from the University of Minnesota that he should fly to Minneapolis and undergo his transplant. 
 
After a few months of recovery, he felt better than he had in years. He decided to finish his college degree at the University of Mary, Fargo, where he was awarded his Bachelor of Science in business management in June 1999. In September 1999, he contracted a fungal infection and was hospitalized at the Fairview University Hospital, Minneapolis, where he died on October 7, 1999. His wife, Sally, and their daughter, Brynn, have established the scholarship in Mike's memory with memorials from numerous family and friends. It is their hope that the scholarship will enable deserving students in respiratory therapy to complete their studies and make significant contributions to the health and comfort of cystic fibrosis patients and their families.
