An important feature of the center is to provide scholarships to students wanting to pursue careers in fields like agricultural commodity marketing, risk and agricultural finance. In 2017, the center awarded $27,000 in scholarships and in 2018, it awarded $47,000. These are the largest single category for scholarships in the department. The intent of the scholarships is to encourage students to pursue careers in these fields, and to provide larger targeted scholarships to attract more students.


Specific criteria for these scholarships include:
• Expressed interest in commodity or agricultural finance
• Internship in the field (current or planned)
• GPA
• Having taken specific courses including, AE343, AE346, AE444 and AE446
