Elevate Your Impact

The Master's program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing their Ph.D. as well as students interested in entering into various communication industries. The department offers two areas of concentration, allowing students to focus their coursework on organizational communication or the intersections of media, technology, & society.

Students considering Ph.D.-level study should choose the thesis option to complete their M.A. degree; in this path, students are required to demonstrate mastery of the research process, including writing a research proposal, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting the results. Students desiring a terminal Master's should take the Master's exam option. In this option, students prepare and complete an eight-hour examination at the conclusion of their studies.

Students may take graduate course work in other disciplines to enhance their program of study. Interdisciplinary approaches to research are encouraged.
