2020 ASC Competition

October 2020: The Region 4 ASC Student Management Competition typically includes a total of more than 30 teams from 14 universities in a seven state area. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic there were a few less participating teams and the event was held virtually via Zoom. NDSU had one team participate in the Commercial 1 category and one in the Heavy Civil category, respectively. NDSU took first place in the Commercial 1 category and members of the winning team included; Sloan Smith, Nolan Hentges, Blaine Sederstrom, , Brinley Mathern, Cy Kuschel and Joseph Halter. Outstanding Construction Graduate of 2020

May 2020: North Dakota State University Construction Management and Engineering Industry Advisory Council awarded Tracer Bowar as the Outstanding Construction Graduate of 2020. Bowar graduated this month with a B.S. in Construction Engineering. During his time at NDSU, he served as an Engineering Ambassador, was a member of the CME Student Advisory Board, acted as the President of the NAHB student chapter and participated on several competition teams. 2019 ASC Competition

October 27-30, 2019 - the North Central Region (Region 4) of the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) met at the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, Nebraska for its annual conference and competition. CM&E students competed in three divisions: Commercial, Design-Build, and Heavy-Civil. The Commercial team made up of Dawson Mann, Nicholas Jensen, Jordan Nieuwsma, Cy Kuschel, Connor Stevens, Joey Halter and coached by Dr. Todd Sirotiak placed 1st overall out of the 18 schools that participated. 2019 Quiz Bowl

October 25, 2019 - Tracer Bowar, Nicholas Jensen, Ryan Holte and Isaiah Ewald represented our department at the annual quiz bowl hosted by the University of Minnesota. They brought home the famous hammer trophy with their first place finish!

Outstanding Construction Graduate of 2019

April 26, 2019: North Dakota State University Construction Management and Engineering Industry Advisory Council awarded Nicholas Jensen as the Outstanding Construction Graduate of 2019. Nick will graduate in December 2019 with a degree in Construction Management. He has served as the NDSU AGC student chapter president for the past 2 years and is very involved in the department. Upon graduation in December, Nick is hoping to land a job with a construction company specializing in 'Commercial' Construction. Inaugural NDSU AGC and NAHB Student/Employer Trap Shoot

April 27, 2019 - NDSU AGC and NAHB held their inaugural student/employer trap shoot and had a great turnout. Companies from around the area helped in sponsoring the event. Those companies were Ryan Companies, US, Inc., Dabbert Custom Homes, Braun Intertec Corporation, Moore Engineering Inc., and Diversified Contractors Inc. Representatives from each company were paired with students to make up teams. The 1st place team overall went to Moore Engineering and the students were Casey Carlson and Micah Jacobsen. 2nd place went to Ryan Companies and the students were Nicholas Jensen, Tracer Bowar, Renick Homan and Moe Ludwig. Individual awards went to Hunter Gray (1st), Micah Jacobsen (2nd) and Dawson Mann (3rd), respectively. Special thanks to all companies who helped in sponsoring this event and to all the students who attended!

OSHA 10 Hour Construction & Trenching/Excavating Trainings

 

Fargo, ND - Over a dozen NDSU Construction Management & Engineering students participated in the OSHA 10 hour construction training held on March 19th and 20th at the Wingate by Wyndham hotel. Trenching and Excavating training was held on March 21st, respectively, and had 16 students attend. Jack Kolberg, safety consultant with the AGC of North Dakota facilitated the trainings. Thank you AGC of ND for putting on these great opportunities for our students!

AGC meets with Construction Engineers

Jan. 17, 2019 - NDSU AGC met with team members from Construction Engineers at their Fargo office. Construction Engineers provide general contracting services and integrated project delivery methods such as Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) and Design-Build (DB), along with pre-engineered metal buildings and site cast tilt-up concrete systems. During the meeting they talked about CMAR and the various processes that go along with it.

2018 ASC Competition

October 24-27, 2018 - North Central Region (Region 4) of the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) competition was held at the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, Nebraska.  NDSU teams won the 2nd place in  Heavy/Civil division and the 3rd place in Commercial division. Congratulations!

2018 Quiz Bowl

Oct. 5, 2018 - The 2018 Upper Midwest Inter-Collegiate Construction Management Quiz Bowl was held at the University of Minnesota. NDSU sent two teams to the competition: Bison team 1 placed 2nd and Bison Team 2 placed 3rd. Congratulations!

2018 Residential Construction Management Competition

Jan. 2018 - Construction Management and Engineering students participated in the Residential Construction Management Competition (RCMC) held in Orlando, FL. This competition gives students the opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom to a real construction company by completing a management project/proposal. Proposals are submitted to a group of construction company executives who act as judges. Students defend their proposals to the judges in front of an audience.
