Application process
Interested in our program? Please apply! (see REU Application page for guidelance on applying). A panel of faculty and students will review all applications and notify accepted applicants in spring. Accepted REU participants will begin building a network of colleagues and collaborators right away!

Travel
CiDER begins Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Participants are expected to arrive prior to May 30 to ensure time to settle into on-campus housing and the Fargo Community. Travel to Fargo via (1) Hector International Airport, (2) Amtrak, or (3) by car.

Our program
On Tuesday, May 30, 2023 REU participants will walk the NDSU campus as part of their orientation to our community. Students will meet with their mentors, tour the campus, and end the day with a welcome BBQ at a local park.

Throughout the 10 weeks, students will:

  • Meet regularly with project mentor(s)
  • Meet regularly with their cohort to build research skills, communication skills, and content knowledge
  • Conduct independent research (approximately 40 hours per week)
  • Have fun!

In the final week, students formally present their research through a campus-wide poster symposium. Students depart NDSU on Saturday, August 5. Outstanding posters may receive funding to attend and present at a national conference in the 2023-24 academic year.
