Cognitive Aging Lab
My research examines the patterns of cognitive functioning associated with normal aging, with a focus on age-related changes in selective attention and visual search performance. I am specifically interested in the role of inhibitory cognitive processes in guiding attention and search. Recent research has focused on the role of context (emotional content of stimuli, predictable patterns in stimulus presentation) in modifying age-cognition patterns. Current projects examine (a) attention factors that influence older adults' driving performance, (b) training interventions that enhance older adults' attention skills and everyday activities, and (c) electrophysiological indicators of age-related differences in visuospatial orienting.
