Scholars will participate in a broad-based training program in laboratory science during the first week of Governor's School. Then, they will be paired with a mentor scientist and will join a research group (biology, biochemistry, chemistry, materials science, pharmacy, food science, geoscience, polymer, vision science, or physics) based on scholars' interest and availability of projects. Here scholars will further develop their laboratory skills and will learn quantitative data in handling techniques. The scholars will present their research in a poster session during the final week of the program. No doubt this exposure will prove beneficial for students in future science courses.
