Pre-licensure BSN Track
One program, two sites
North Dakota State University offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree as a two-phase program consisting of a pre-professional program and a professional program. The professional program is offered at the NDSU Fargo campus and NDSU Nursing at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
Graduates are eligible to apply for the national licensing examination (NCLEX) to become a registered nurse (RN).
The program is fully accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
The largest program in the School of Nursing, this program consists of one year prerequisite courses and three years of professional nursing courses.
Students in the professional courses are exposed to a variety of clinical settings such as acute and long term care, pediatrics, public health, emergency room, critical care, labor and delivery as well as mental health.
This program can be completed through our NDSU campus in Fargo or NDSU Nursing at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
The faculty and facilities
The NDSU prelicensure BSN program is offered at two locations: the NDSU campus in Fargo and NDSU Nursing at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
At NDSU Fargo campus, department and faculty offices are located at the Aldevron Tower in the heart of campus. The majority of classes and laboratories are held at Aldevron Tower and the adjoining Sudro Hall.
At the Bismarck site, department offices, faculty offices and classrooms are located on the Sanford Health campus.
A nursing skills laboratory, assessment laboratory and simulation center are maintained at both sites to enhance student learning.
The Fargo-Moorhead and Bismarck communities provide a rich source of health care facilities, which are utilized by the nursing program.
Faculty members are experts in their specialized areas and assist students with learning in both classroom and clinical settings.
