CPT Eligibility
Advisors can authorize CPT for students who...
- Have been lawfully enrolled on a full-time basis for at least a full academic year.
- Are not studying English as a second language.
- Have secured a training position.
Work Hours
Undergraduate Students and Master's Students (Plan C)
- Part-time (up to 20 hours) during the academic year
- Full-time during official break periods
Master's Students (Plans A and B) and Doctoral Students
- Part-time (up to 20 hours) during the academic year
- Full-time after coursework is complete
- Full-time during official break periods
How to Apply
Step 1: Attend a CPT info session or meet with your international student advisor.
Step 2: Complete the CPT application with your academic advisor.
Step 3: Enroll in "Field Experience" credits if available. If not available, you will receive instructions for internship credits.
Step 4: Submit your completed CPT application and offer letter to ISS.
Step 5: Receive your I-20 with CPT authorization.
