Advisors can authorize CPT for students who...

• Have been lawfully enrolled on a full-time basis for at least a full academic year.
• Are not studying English as a second language.
• Have secured a training position.

Undergraduate Students and Master's Students (Plan C)

• Part-time (up to 20 hours) during the academic year
• Full-time during official break periods

Master's Students (Plans A and B) and Doctoral Students

• Part-time (up to 20 hours) during the academic year
  • Full-time after coursework is complete
• Full-time during official break periods

Step 1: Attend a CPT info session or meet with your international student advisor.

Step 2: Complete the CPT application with your academic advisor.

Step 3: Enroll in "Field Experience" credits if available. If not available, you will receive instructions for internship credits.

Step 4: Submit your completed CPT application and offer letter to ISS.

Step 5: Receive your I-20 with CPT authorization.
