Multi-Well Plate Readers

The BMRL utilizes two multi-well plate readers to conduct spectrophotometric assays based on fluorescence, luminescence and absorbance measurements. The first reader is a TECAN Spark Cyto 400 (left picture) which is a multimode instrument equipped to capture bright-field and fluorescence images of bacteria and microalgae cell attachment and biofilm growth in multi-well plates in real time. The second reader is a Tecan Safire2 which is a modular microplate detection system based on a quad-4 monochromator technology that offers a range of high-speed detection techniques. The Safire2 is mounted on the deck the Tecan EVO liquid handling platform to enable automated measurements.
