Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Program
The Goldwater Scholarship program is one of the oldest and most prestigious national scholarships in the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields in the United States. This scholarship seeks to identify, encourage, and support college sophomores and juniors who show exceptional promise in becoming this country’s next generation of research leaders in STEM fields.
Applicants need to have a demonstrated interested in research (it is highly recommended applicants have research experience prior to applying) and have a solid academic record (GPA of 3.5 or higher, but this is not a firm requirement). Goldwater Scholars are eligible to receive up to $7500 per year for tuition, fees, books, and room and board. Institutional nominations are required, therefore there is an internal application process and finalists are forwarded on to the national competition.
