Chemical spill in lab cleaned; operations resume

NDSU students, faculty and staff returned to the Research 1 building today at approximately 11 a.m. after a chemical spill which had occurred in a research lab at about 8:45 a.m. was cleaned fully. No one was injured.
 
The NDSU University Police and Safety Office and Fargo Fire Department responded following all safety protocols. Two students had been working in a lab when a bottle containing a chemical broke. They immediately followed safety protocols and all occupants of R1 followed procedures to exit the building. The Safety Office and Fire Department assessed the spill.
 
People who work in Research 1 were cleared to return to the building at 11 a.m. The lab where the chemical spill occurred remained closed until noon, when the University Police and Safety Office confirmed it had been cleaned fully and according to proper safety protocols.
