Deland Myers, director of academic diversity recruitment, professor of cereal and food sciences in the Department of Plant Sciences and NCAA faculty athletic representative, has been selected as a fellow in the American Oil Chemists' Society.
Myers is a past president of the organization and immediate past chair of the American Oil Chemists' Society Foundation board of directors.
The professional society has served professionals in the oils, fats, surfactants and related material fields for more than a century. The organization provides news and information on research in those areas through meetings, publications and its website.
Myers, who joined NDSU in 2007, earned a bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a master's degree and doctorate in food technology from Iowa State University.
