Todd Lewis, associate professor of counseling and counselor education in the School of Education, was recently featured in a story about WalletHub.com’s study of penalties for driving under the influence.
The story, "Strictest And Most Lenient States On DUI," was written by Alina Comoreanu, a research analyst at Evolution Finance. Among several questions she asked Lewis were "What are the major factors that are responsible for the decline in drunk driving fatalities since the 1980s?" and "What is the most effective policy that states should consider to reduce drunk driving rates?"
In its study, WalletHub looked at 15 variables to evaluate tough and lenient state penalties for drunk driving offenders. North Dakota was 48th on the study's list ranking the strictest states.
Lewis joined NDSU in August 2014. He previously was a faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio Northern University, a master's degree in clinical counseling at Heidelberg University and a doctorate in counselor education and supervision from Kent State University.
