The North Dakota Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research, known as ND EPSCoR, has announced a new pilot program called Research Experience for Undergraduates. The program provides the opportunity to work in the Center for Regional Climate Studies or the Center for Sustainable Materials Science alongside faculty on cutting-edge research projects in chemistry, materials science, engineering, agribusiness and applied economics, hydrology and atmospheric sciences, while learning scientific research and communication skills.
The program is primarily geared toward undergraduate students in STEM disciplines during the award period of June 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017. Students must be enrolled at NDSU, University of North Dakota, one of the five tribal colleges located in North Dakota or one of four North Dakota University System primarily undergraduate Institutions located in Dickinson, Mayville, Minot or Valley City. Additional selection criteria, application forms and additional information can be found here.
Applications are due by noon, Feb. 2, 2016. Students selected for the program receive a $5,000 stipend and up to $2,000 for summer housing. The research project must total 200 hours over the summer, during the academic year or a combination of the two.
ND EPSCoR is a federally and state funded program designed to improve the ability of university researchers to compete more effectively for federal, regional and private research grants in the sciences, engineering and mathematics.
