NDSU researchers take aim at pancreatic cancer tumors

More than 55,000 people are diagnosed each year with pancreatic cancer and 44,000 of them die according to the National Cancer Institute. For every 100 people diagnosed, only eight make it to the five-year survival mark.

Matt Confeld, graduate researcher in the NDSU Pharmaceutical Sciences department, is working on a new strategy to improve the success of anti-cancer drugs. In this interview, he discusses a new strategy of adding polymers to the drugs which he hopes will allow the drugs to penetrate the tumor from inside.

He hopes that this approach will be more successful at breaking up the tumor.
