COACH OF THE YEAR
Following the national championship victory, first-year head football coach Matt Entz was named AFCA FCS Coach 
of the Year.

LANCE MAKES HISTORY
Trey Lance is the first freshman ever to win the Walter Payton Award. He also won the Jerry Rice Award, which recognizes the top freshman in the FCS.

ACADEMIC HONORS
Sophomore linebacker Jackson Hankey won the Elite 90 award, recognizing his 4.0 GPA in agricultural economics.

Approximately 650 of the 1,102 eligible students participated in winter commencement ceremonies. Patrick Pochant, from Washburn, North Dakota, presented the student address. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with physics and also a Bachelor of Science in Spanish. 


Longtime faculty member Berdell Funke awarded honorary doctorate

Berdell Funke, professor emeritus of microbiological sciences, received an honorary doctor of science at winter commencement. Funke served on the NDSU faculty from 1964 to 1997. The Department of Microbiological Sciences awards the Berdell Funke Microbiology Scholarship and the Dr. Berdell Funke Medal of Excellence in Microbiology, in his honor. read more >
