LARGEST-EVER CLASS GRADUATES FROM NDSU

More than 1,400 of 2,251 eligible students participated in spring commencement ceremonies, which included an address by North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum. Longtime NDSU faculty member and administrator H. Roald Lund received an Honorary Doctorate in Agriculture. Student speakers were Jenna Murphy, an English major from Carrington, North Dakota, and Colette Bersie, a marketing and management major from Delano, Minnesota. NDSU undergraduates present research to a national audience
Six NDSU students were selected to present new knowledge they created
at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research. The conference showcases the best research by undergraduates from across the U.S. The NDSU students were civil and environmental engineering, sports management, exercise management and English majors who received awards at NDSU’s annual undergraduate research showcase.

Computer science student earns national recognition for research paper
An NDSU doctoral student’s research paper was selected as an exemplary paper in the “Best Computer Science Educational Research Papers” at large and notable computing education conference. Vaibhav Anu was the lead writer on a paper about incorporating human error education into software engineering courses. The study that yielded the findings for the paper was funded by the National Science Foundation.

NDSU innovation team mentor, professor dies

David L. Wells, professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering, died May 10. He was 80. Wells was the principal mentor for NDSU’s award-winning Bison Microventure innovation team that worked to develop an artificial jaw, among other high technology projects. He also advised the Bison Proventure and Dynamic Cell Culture groups.
