Therapy dogs to help ease finals-week stress at NDSU's Main Library

Finals week is quickly approaching at NDSU and the Main Library is offering a series of activities to help students through what can be a busy and stress-filled time of year.

Many students will spend finals week, scheduled for Dec. 16-20, and the preceding week at the library finishing projects and preparing for exams. More than 2,000 students entered NDSU’s Main Library between midnight and 7 a.m. during the spring 2013 finals week.

F-M Dog Obedience School is providing seven licensed therapy dogs, which students can interact with on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m. in the Main Library’s Weber Reading room. Breeds will include golden retriever, Yorkshire terrier and Lhasa apso.

Throughout the two weeks, the library’s lobby also will become a de-stress area with puzzles, coloring sheets, crossword puzzles and sudoku to help break up study time. Midnight snacks will be available on select nights. The 24/7 hours are available due to the support of Blue Key Honor Society.

The Main Library is scheduled to be open 24/7 beginning Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. through Dec. 20 at 5 p.m. Commencement is scheduled for Dec. 20 at 4 p.m

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
