Doctoral student publishes research on health care risk management

NDSU transportation and logistics doctoral student Fesseha Gebremikael recently published research centered on risk management in the health care supply chain.

Gebremikael described the development of risk management strategies that can treat the adverse consequences of disruptions in the hospital supply chain. The strategies would improve efficiency, responsiveness and quality of patient care and safety.

The paper addresses the need to identify and management risk exposures across hospital operations in order to manage risks in the health care supply chain. Their research leverages the analytic hierarchy process framework to assess, evaluate and quantify the portfolio of risks attached to a hospital supply chain operations.

“An Analytical Model for Healthcare Supply Chain Risk Management,” was published in the African Journal of Business and Economic Research. Co-authors include Chris Enyinda, a graduate of the NDSU transportation and logistics doctoral program and professor and chair of the Department of Marketing and International Business at the Canadian University of Dubai, and Alphonso Ogbuehi, professor of marketing and global strategy at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
