Kendall Nygard, NDSU professor of computer science and U.S. State Department Jefferson Fellow, is scheduled to present "The Jefferson Science Fellowship Program" Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m., in the Memorial Union Century Theater.

In his presentation, Nygard will describe and promote the fellowship program, and provide information on scientific projects and programs he worked on during the past year.

Jefferson Science Fellows are senior, tenured faculty members in the sciences, engineering and medicine from American institutions of higher education who serve at the Department of State and U.S. Agency for International Development for one year as senior science advisers. Following their year of service, they are available for an additional five years as consultants.

At the Department of State, the work centers on the role of science, engineering and medicine in international policy. At the Agency for International Development, efforts focus on beneficial operations and assistance within developing countries. Priorities and initiatives include food security, climate change, global health, water, education, citizen security, strengthening civil society, and disaster risk reduction. Advanced use of data and analytics span the various application areas.
