Water resources institute seminar scheduled

The fourth annual North Dakota Water Resources Research Institute's Distinguished Water Seminar is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Union Hidatsa room. The featured speaker is set to be Gregory V. Lowry, Water J. Blenko Sr. professor of civil and environmental engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Lowry, who also is deputy director of the university's Center for Environmental Implications of Nanotechnology, is slated to present "Nanotechnology in Water Science and Engineering: Sustainably Harnessing the Power of Nanotechnology."

Lowry will present an overview of the history of the Environmental Nanotechnology field, and recent advances in applications and implications of engineered nanomaterials.

The event is co-sponsored by the NDSU Departments of Civil Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Geosciences, Environmental and Conservation Sciences and the School of Natural Resources Sciences.
