NDSU faculty member recognized as Teaching Scholar

Cheryl Wachenheim, professor of agribusiness and applied economics, received the Teaching Scholar Award at the annual conference of the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture June 16-20 at the University of Georgia, Athens.

The award is presented to a maximum of 1 percent of the organization's membership. The group is a professional society that focuses on promoting, recognizing and rewarding excellence in teaching agriculture and related areas at the post-secondary level in North America. Members of North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture are from two-year and four-year public and private colleges.

The purposes of the annual conference, which this year had a theme of "Teaching on My Mind," is to provide professional advancement of faculty engaged in classroom teaching. Participants share teaching methods, philosophies and styles of instruction.

Wachenheim earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Minnesota, and a master's degree in agricultural economics, MBA in material and logistics management and doctorate in agricultural economics from Michigan State University.
