Carol Cwiak, associate professor of emergency management, has been awarded the 2015 International Association of Emergency Managers Student Chapter Adviser of the Year Award. She received the reward at the association’s recent conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cwiak was nominated by Brittany Bleich, student officer of the NDSU Emergency Management Student Association, and Jason Block, president of the association’s student region.

Cwiak has been the adviser for NDSU’s Emergency Management Student Association since 2006 and a longtime member of the national group. This is the third award received by NDSU from the organization in recent years. In 2011, NDSU’s Emergency Management Student Association won the Student Chapter Award and in 2014, the Department of Emergency Management received the Academic Recognition Award.
