David Berg, American Crystal Sugar Co. president and CEO, will be the featured speaker during the 24th annual Aldrich C. Bloomquist Lectureship, scheduled for Tuesday, March 29, at 7 a.m. in the Fargo Holiday Inn's Dakota Room.

The title of Berg's talk is "The Sociology of a Cooperative."

Berg joined American Crystal Sugar Co. in 1987 as the manager for economic research. He has held numerous positions with the company, including vice president for strategic planning, business development, administration, agriculture and operations. He was named president and CEO in 2007.

Prior to joining American Crystal, Berg served in the U.S. Air Force and worked at WDAY-TV in Fargo and General Mills Inc. in Minneapolis.

A native of Fargo, Berg earned his bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead and his master's degree in agricultural economics from NDSU.

Bloomquist was president and a longtime executive for American Crystal Sugar Co. In recognition of his contributions to the company and the sugar industry, the lecture series was established by American Crystal Sugar Co. through the Quentin Burdick Center for Cooperatives at NDSU.

The mission of the Quentin N. Burdick Center for Cooperatives is to conduct, promote and coordinate university education and research on cooperatives to strengthen operations and work toward expanding employment and economic opportunities through cooperatives.
