Flax Institute scheduled for Fargo

The 66th Flax Institute is scheduled for March 31-April 1 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo.

The institute brings together national and international researchers with an interest in flax to share and learn about flax research, according to Hans Kandel, NDSU Extension agronomist and Flax Institute president. NDSU has led the organization of the biennial Flax Institute.

More than 20 presentations are scheduled by researchers from Canada, China, Mongolia, Minnesota and North Dakota.

The topics covered during the event include breeding flax, agricultural production, flax in food products, flax for industrial purposes and human health effects of consuming flax.

A panel will discuss the new uses of flax in food products, marketing opportunities and use of flax for other commercial purposes. Persons interested in scientific presentations and new developments in flax production and industry are encouraged to attend the institute's meeting.

A registration fee of $125 for the event covers breaks, lunch, dinner and scientific proceedings.

Register online or contact Lisa in the NDSU plant sciences department at 701-231-7122. Preregistration for the event is requested to accommodate for seating and refreshments.
