Cooperatives center director named

Olson

The NDSU Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics has announced associate professor Frayne Olson has been named director of the Quentin Burdick Center for Cooperatives.

Olson has been a crop economist and marketing specialist in the NDSU Extension Service office of agribusiness and applied economics since 2008. He earned his doctorate in agricultural economics at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007. His research study focused on measuring the influence of an organization’s by-laws and policies on free-riding activities within large collective action organizations.

Prior to attending the University of Missouri-Columbia, Olson was assistant director of NDSU’s Quentin Burdick Center for Cooperatives from 1996-2003, and farm management specialist at the NDSU Extension Service from 1987 to 1996.

He earned his undergraduate degree in agricultural economics in 1984 and his master’s degree in agricultural economics in 1987 at NDSU.
