Student-run restaurant to serve 'farm table' lunch

NDSU’s 800 Café is scheduled to serve a “Farm Table” lunch. The meal is set for Thursday, March 2, and Friday, March 3, in the Food Production Complex on the third floor of the Katherine K. Burgum Family Life Center. Seating will be from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The menu for the meal includes:

·      Fresh dried apple and candied pecan microgreen salad topped with gorgonzola cheese and served with in-house made apple cider dressing.

·      Sweet butternut squash bake, topped with crisped nuts and paired with a tender asparagus tossed in olive oil and spices.

·      Savory herb-crusted pork garnished with fresh sprigs of parsley.

·      Freshly baked black bean brownie garnished with Greek yogurt and raspberries.

Dietetics students Alyssa Athman and Rosalie Grant will manage the meal with the help of their classmates.

The cost is $10 per person and includes beverages. Four-meal punch cards are available for $35. Cash or check are acceptable forms of payment.

Walk-ins are welcomed, but reservations are preferred due to limited seating. The café is open to the public and parking is available in NDSU’s visitor lot.

The 800 Café is operated by NDSU dietetic students and will be open for lunch on Thursdays and Fridays through May 5. Sherri Nordstrom Stastny, associate professor of health, nutrition and exercise sciences, is the class instructor.
