Student-athletes earn basketball academic honors

NDSU seniors A.J. Jacobson and Paul Miller were voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District men's basketball team announced Feb. 22.

NDSU is the only Division I school in the country with two Academic All-District honorees this season.

Jacobson, from Fargo, and Miller, from Waukesha, Wisconsin, will both advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors to be announced in mid-March.

Jacobson joins Brett Winkelman (2007-09) as the only NDSU men's basketball players to earn the Academic All-District distinction three times. He graduated with a 3.99 cumulative grade point average in zoology (pre-dentistry) last May and now owns a 4.00 GPA toward his Master of Business Administration.

For Miller, this is the second Academic All-District recognition of his career after also earning the honor as a sophomore in 2016. He owns a 3.38 cumulative GPA in accounting.

To be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution.
