Ecologist to present biological sciences seminar

The Department of Biological Sciences and the Range Science Graduate Student Association are set to host a lecture by Kathryn Yurkonis, University of North Dakota associate professor of biology.

Her seminar, titled “From Individuals to Landscapes: Improving Grassland Structure and Function in the Northern Plains,” is scheduled for Friday, March 2, at 3 p.m. in Loftsgard 114.

Everyone is welcome.

Yurkonis’ research combines aspects of plant community and restoration ecology, concentrating on grassland reconstruction and management practices in the Northern Great Plains.

She earned her bachelor’s degree at Carroll University, Wisconsin; master’s degree in biological sciences from Eastern Illinois University; and doctorate in ecology and evolutionary biology at Iowa State University.
