NDSU registrar visits Congress

NDSU registrar Rhonda Kitch was among the representatives of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers who visited Capitol Hill June 21. The group’s visit kicked off the organization’s summer leadership meeting.

Kitch met with education legislative assistants from the offices of N.D. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp and N.D. Rep. Kevin Cramer, as well as the education legislative assistants for representatives from Wisconsin.

“I was honored to represent AACRAO and NDSU during our Hill Day,” said Kitch, who is the association’s vice president-at-large.“I relayed potential impacts of policies related to student success as well as provided perspective on critical higher education priorities related to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) updates, the Reverse Transfer Efficiency Act and Higher Education Act Reauthorization. I was honored to connect with individuals drafting policy and hope to serve as a resource as future questions arise.”

In a tour organized by AACRAO’s government relations department, teams met with congressional aides and members of Congress to share their perspectives on how policy impact campuses on a daily basis.
