Landscape architecture students, faculty recognized at conference

Two groups of NDSU landscape architecture students and one landscape architecture faculty member received awards and recognition for their work at the Digital Landscape Architecture conference in Aschersleben, Germany, May 26-29.

An academic poster submitted by students Louis Kramvik, Trevor Quick and Adam Bishop titled “Cinematic Immersion: Creating A Better Experience for the Audience Through the Use of Video Panoramic Immersion” won the award for Best Application of New Media in Landscape Architecture by evaluation of an online jury.

An academic poster submitted by students Kylie Satterman, Christina Forrest and Ashley Hudson titled “A Critical Analysis of Immersive Labs with Today’s Technology” was one of six posters from 50 submissions to be selected for oral presentation at the conference.

Both posters were completed as part of assistant professor Mark Lindquist's Immersive Environments Seminar in the NDSU Department of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Lindquist's paper, “Affordable Immersion Revisited: A Proposal for a Simple Immersive Visualization Environment (SIVE-Lab),” won the award for Best Contribution to Information Technology Education in Landscape Architecture by a vote of participants and was one of eight papers receiving a 5.0 for scientific excellence.
