Carrie Johnson, Extension personal and family finance specialist and associate professor of human development and family science, is featured in a recent WalletHub.com article.

The article, titled “Personal Loans: WalletHub makes it easy to find the best personal loan online,” has comments from 37 experts from across the country.

Johnson was asked several questions, including: What is the biggest misconception people have about personal loans?

Johnson said, “I think the biggest misconception people have about personal loans is that all personal loans are the same. Each lender has their own products and determinations as to who would qualify. If you are offered a personal loan from one lender. Another may not offer you one or have different rates and fees associated with it. Consumers should educate themselves and do research when deciding on a personal loan.”

Johnson joined the NDSU faculty in 2016. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Dakota State University, Madison, South Dakota; her master’s degree from South Dakota State University, Brookings; and her doctorate in family and consumer science education from Iowa State University, Ames. She is an accredited financial counselor.
