The first seminar of NDSU’s “The Field of Anthrozoology” series is set for Friday, Jan. 31, at noon in the Memorial Union Meadowlark room.

Scheduled speakers include Lisa Christenson, associate professor of practice in the Department of Animal Sciences, and Loren Baranko-Faught, lecturer of animal sciences, who will present “Some we love, some we hate. Why it’s so hard to think straight about animals.”

Everyone is welcome.

The field of anthrozoology is the study of the interactions between humans and animals. NDSU recently began offering an Introduction to Anthrozoology course and the university has a student-led anthrozoology club.

Baranko-Faught helped create the Intro to Anthrozoology course. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in animal science from NDSU and is pursuing her doctorate in education at NDSU.

Christenson is the co-director of NDSU’s veterinary technology program. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Concordia College, Moorhead, and her DVM degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She helped develop the Introduction to Anthrozoology course and is teaching the course this spring.
