Three NDSU faculty receive educator awards

Three NDSU faculty members have received North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Educator Awards. They include David Englund, senior lecturer of agribusiness and applied economics; Erik Hanson, assistant professor of agribusiness and applied economics; and Rebekah Oliver, associate professor of practice in the Department of Plant Sciences.

The honorees were recognized during the organizations’ virtual conference and awards ceremony June 18.

Englund has more than 20 years of teaching experience, and he is in his seventh year at NDSU. He primarily teaches introduction classes such as Principles of Microeconomics and advises incoming students.

Hanson teaches Introduction to Agricultural Management, Advanced Agricultural Lending and Integrated Farm/Ranch Management. He also is the coordinator for department’s internships and field experiences.

Oliver has been teaching at NDSU for seven years. She teaches Genetics Lecture and Lab, World Food Crops and a biotechnology capstone course.

The NACTA Educator Award is a criterion-based honor and nominations are reviewed by a committee of members. To qualify, a NACTA member must have been on a full-time appointment involving at least 25 percent teaching for a minimum of three of the past five years.
