Somnath Banerjee, NDSU assistant professor of marketing, was recently quoted in an online WalletHub story. Banerjee was one of 60 experts from across the country quoted in the story, “Citi Credit Cards: WalletHub makes it easy to find the best Citi credit card for you.”

Banerjee responded to these questions:

• Why would a credit card company offer 1 percent cash back on purchases and 1 percent cash back when cardholders pay the balances resulting from those purchases, rather than just 2 percent cash back at either point?

• What are the benefits and drawbacks of a credit card advertising no late fees ever?

• Citi now has the Costco credit card account, which used to be with American Express; what does that mean for the two companies as well as for consumers?

Banerjee’s research interests are in sales management, sales incentives, sales-marketing interface, online marketing, competitive marketing strategy and quantitative marketing.

He earned his bachelor’s degree at Patna University, India; his Master of Business Administration from the International Management Institute, India; and his doctorate at the University of Central Florida.
