NDSU’s Nice Center is a founding partner and lead organizer for the second annual Women’s Entrepreneurship Week, scheduled for Sept. 21-25. More than 30 events are planned across the community.

Virtual and small in-person events will help participants build their businesses, provide access to experts on issues facing entrepreneurs and offer opportunities to connect with others committed to supporting founders.

“2020 has been full of changes, but one thing remains the same – our belief that our region can be the best place for anyone to start a company,” said event organizer Kodee Furst, Nice Center programs manager. “To advance our mission of entrepreneurship for all, we believe providing opportunities for women, no matter their age, to see others who look like them building, scaling and sharing their founder stories is an important step in growing a more inclusive community of entrepreneurs.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Week is an international effort and campuses around the world host events. A year ago, 242 universities in 32 countries participated. Last year’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Week in Fargo attracted more than 700 attendees throughout the week.

The event will offer digital access to all events to ensure that anyone can safely participate and more women can benefit from the week’s activities. Sessions will cover topics such as managing cash flow, successfully hosting virtual events, and the important aspects of technology. The week’s events connect, celebrate, and impact women entrepreneurs.

Some of the event highlights include:

• Ask Me Anything Sessions

Regional and national experts sharing an hour of their time to engage with attendees on such topics as negotiation, building out a power team and the art of the pitch.

• Rise and Shine Founders Voices Series

The morning series will highlight female founders from across North Dakota sharing how they’re building their companies.

• One Million Cups at Island Park

Michelle Kommer will share her journey from serving as North Dakota’s Commissioner of Commerce to her new role as an entrepreneur.

“Whether starting a company is still a thought, you’re a community builder or you’re leading growth in your company, we hope you join us from wherever you feel comfortable for a week full of impact and connection,” Furst said.
