Economist Edward Glaeser is scheduled to deliver a virtual presentation to NDSU Thursday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. as part of the Menard Family Distinguished Speaker Series.

Glaeser is the Fred and Eleanor Glimp Professor of Economics at Harvard University, where he has taught since 1992. His work focuses on economic growth, law and economics. In particular, he studies the determinants of city growth and the role of cities as centers of idea transmission.

“Edward Glaeser is one of the world’s leading thinkers in understanding how cities can influence economic growth and opportunity. His research has shed light on policy issues such as poverty, regulations and housing affordability. We are excited to hear his many insights on how we can address these and other important problems,” said John Bitzan, Menard Family Director of the Challey Institute.

The Menard Family Distinguished Speaker Series invites world thought leaders to share ideas with the NDSU community on big questions that explore ways to improve the human condition and create economic opportunity. The series is hosted by the Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth, an interdisciplinary institute at NDSU.

The event is free and open to the public, though attendees must register.
