NDSU sport management program featured on national blog

NDSU’s sport management program is featured on the National Alliance for Youth Sports blog.

The Feb. 25 article, titled “North Dakota State adds CYSA certification training into curriculum,” discusses the program’s inclusion of Certified Youth Sports Administrator training.

“The NDSU Sport Management program greatly appreciates National Alliance for Youth Sports putting together this article. The article will bring national attention to NDSU and hopefully show other universities the importance of preparing future professionals for the industries they are about to join,” said Tyler Tracy, lecturer and coordinator of the sport management program.

The story describes how the 21 students in the Introduction to Youth and Interscholastic Sport course offered by the university’s Sport Management Program are participating in online Academy for Youth Sports Administrators training provided by the National Alliance for Youth Sports. CYSA certification has been completed by more than 5,600 recreation professionals worldwide.

“We are so pleased to be working with NDSU and helping prepare their students to be knowledgeable and successful leaders, since oftentimes many graduates will work in the field of recreation and athletics,” Lisa Licata, NAYS senior director of professional administrators, said in the article.

NDSU’s sport management major is a four-year full-time program of study designed to prepare students to excel in the sport industry. Students are guided through coursework and hands-on experiences that focus on the changing intricacies of the sport environment. Within the curriculum, students are encouraged to explore their interest areas of sport, ranging from local non-profits to national and international professional franchises.
