Nice Corps to bring entrepreneurship to high school students

The Nice Center at NDSU has announced the launch of Nice Corps, an innovative approach to introduce entrepreneurship to area high school students.

Nice Corps fellows will be recent graduates who will be hired full-time from the end of July until November. They will help high school students develop an entrepreneurial mindset through sharing programming and excitement for new ideas.

“Our moonshot is to introduce entrepreneurship to 95 percent of North Dakota students by 2025,” said Kodee Furst, The Nice Center program manager. “To help us get there, we want to create a Peace Corps for entrepreneurship.”

Nice Corps members will:

• Share information about The Nice Center’s offerings

• Facilitate core programming for students and community members

• Serve as a brand ambassador for The Nice Center

• Connect The Nice Center’s resources with local stakeholders

• Gather and share local insights and needs to inform future programming efforts

“We’re focused on assembling a team with diverse perspectives and experience. Candidates don’t have to have an entrepreneurial background; we’re looking for leaders, collaborators and those who have a spirit for connecting,” Furst said.

Each Nice Corps member will serve a multi-county region and support between 25-30 schools for four months. They will be remotely supported by The Nice Center personnel.

Applications are open and will be considered as soon as received. Nice Corps fellows will be announced in May and work will begin on July 19. The positions will wrap up Nov. 23.

A virtual information session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 31, at noon. Contact Furst at kodee.furst@ndsu.edu with questions.
