NDSU pharmacy faculty receive statewide awards

Three NDSU School of Pharmacy faculty members have received awards from the North Dakota Pharmacists Association during its annual meeting in April.

Recipients include:

  • Dr. Amy Werremeyer – All Doerr Service Award recognizes a recipient with an outstanding record for community and pharmacy service.
     
  • Dr. Brody Maack – Excellence in Innovation Award which demonstrates innovation and entrepreneurship in the practice of pharmacy resulting in improved patient care.
     
  • Dr. Heidi Eukel – Friend of Northland Association of Pharmacy Technicians recognizes an advocate of NAPT and the profession of pharmacy technicians.

Werremeyer serves as chair of the NDSU School of Pharmacy. Her extensive record for community service includes being part of a team that launched ONERx in the state to help stem opioid misuse in North Dakota. She also provides continuing education for pharmacists. In addition, Werremeyer was part of a team that developed the Snap the Stigma campaign to help NDSU students living with mental illness.

Maack serves as vice chair of the NDSU School of Pharmacy and maintains a clinical pharmacy practice at Family HealthCare in Fargo. He also precepts students at the Family HealthCare Pharmacy as they gain experience helping underserved populations during their clinical rotations. Maack provided service to the pharmacy profession as president of the North Dakota Society of Health-System Pharmacists and contributes nationally to the profession by advancing ambulatory care services and improve patient outcomes.

Eukel serves as an associate professor in the NDSU School of Pharmacy. Her areas of expertise include community pharmacy practice, medication therapy management, and patient communication and consultation. She instructs pharmacy practice labs at NDSU and has been previously recognized for her outstanding skills as a preceptor and mentor. In addition, she previously received national awards from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy for innovations in teaching.
