Evolutionary biologist to give NDSU talk

The NDSU Department of Biological Sciences is scheduled to host a presentation by Rosemary Gillespie, professor of environmental science, policy and management at the University of California, Berkeley. The event is slated for Friday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m. in the Memorial Union Anishinaabe Theater.

Gillespie’s presentation, “Adaptive radiation on oceanic islands: Isolation and connection, repeatability and serendipity,” is the keynote lecture for the Northern Plains Biological Symposium.

Interested persons can attend in person or via Zoom. Everyone is welcome.

Gillespie’s research focuses on insects and spiders. She is a past president of the American Genetics Association, International Biogeography Society and the American Arachnological Society.

She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and her doctorate at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
