800 Café announces winter meal

The student-run 800 Café is set to feature a winter three-course meal on Friday, Feb. 25, in room 312 of the Katherine K. Burgum Family Life Center.

The menu begins with a fresh garden salad with cucumbers, radishes, red bell peppers, tomatoes and mandarin oranges served on a bed of spinach and romaine lettuce and topped with Asian sesame dressing. The main course will be shrimp and vegetable stir-fry served with steamed brown rice and assorted vegetables, such as bell peppers, zucchini, carrots and red onions. The meal will finish with a chocolate drizzled coconut macaroon.

The meal is managed by dietetics students Lisa Meader and Kaitlyn Wilmot. Seating begins at 11 a.m. and the last seating is at 12:15 p.m.

The meal costs $10 per person, with beverages included. Four meals can be purchased at the price of a $35 punch card. Payments can be made in the form of cash or check at the door on the day of the meal. With limited meals available, reservations are preferred, but walk-ins are also welcomed if there is availability.

When making a reservation, please indicate your preferred seating time, if you prefer take out, number of attendees, email, and phone number of the person who oversees the reservation. In addition, please also include any allergies of any attendees.

Online reservations are preferred, but reservations can also be made by contacting nancy.moberg@ndsu.edu or by calling 701-231-7474. Parking is available in the visitor’s pay lot on the south side of the Memorial Union on campus.

The class is instructed by Sherri Nordstrom Stastny, NDSU professor in health, nutrition, and exercise sciences. Additional restaurant dates and more information regarding the 800 Café can be found on the café website.

Operated by NDSU dietetics students, the 800 Café gets its name due to the menu being 800 calories or fewer. The food is prepared from scratch and made solely by NDSU students.
