Business ethics series to feature fraud expert

The NDSU College of Business is set to host renowned fraud expert Kelly Richmond Pope for a talk on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 11:30 a.m. in the Louise S. Barry Auditorium at Barry Hall.

The Conversations in Business Ethics presentation is free and open to the public. Boxed lunches will be served after the talk.

Virtual attendance is available through Zoom.

Pope is a nationally recognized expert in forensic accounting and white-collar crime. She directed and produced the award-winning documentary, “All the Queen’s Horses,” in 2017, which chronicles the largest municipal fraud in U.S. history. In 2018, she released the TED Talk “How whistle-blowers shape history.”

The Conversations in Business Ethics Series is sponsored by the Wold Family. The goal of the series is to help students delve more deeply into issues of ethics and leadership.

Pope is a professor of accounting at DePaul University. She researches organizational misconduct, ethics and fraud, and corporate culture and compliance systems designed to confront these challenges. In 2020, Pope was among the top 25 most powerful women in accounting named by the American Institute of CPAs and the CPA Practice Advisor.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from North Carolina A&T State University and master’s degree and doctorate in accountancy from Virginia Tech. She is a licensed certified public accountant (CPA) in the state of North Carolina.
