Marc Wallman has been named interim vice president for information technology at NDSU, effective Feb. 1, as the search continues to fill the position permanently. He is assistant vice president of enterprise and computing infrastructure in information technology at NDSU. 

As interim vice president, Wallman will be responsible for overseeing the information technology division, working with centralized and departmental information technology, and assisting university administration with technology issues. 

“I am very excited to work with the provost during this transition period and serve the information technology division and university,” Wallman said. 

“I am delighted to have someone with Marc’s capabilities and professional stature take on this role and look forward to working with him as the search process continues,” said Provost Bruce Rafert.

Wallman joined NDSU’s information technology division in 2002 as a senior systems administrator. In 2006, he became the director of information technology infrastructure services. In 2008, he also assumed the role of assistant vice president for enterprise computing and infrastructure. Before joining NDSU, Wallman worked in the central information technology department at the University of California at Berkeley.

Wallman has been active in numerous regional and national professional organizations. He participates in the Educause Advanced Core Technologies Initiative Optimizing Computing Infrastructure Working Group and the Northern Tier Network Consortium Steering Committee.

Wallman earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, a master’s degree in computer science from NDSU and a master’s degree in theology from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn.
