Animal sciences associate professor receives award

Maddock

Robert Maddock, associate professor of animal sciences, was presented the American Meat Science Association’s Distinguished Achievement Award at the Reciprocal Meat Conference awards banquet June 19 at the Fargodome. Maddock is one of three individuals nationally who received the award this year.

The award was established in 1992 by the association and is designed to recognize and foster development of young members who have demonstrated significant scientific skills in muscle foods research and technology that contribute to the animal products industry and American Meat Science Association. The award is sponsored by Burke Corp.

Maddock joined the Department of Animal Sciences in 2006. He teaches courses in meat processing, meat evaluation and food safety. Maddock also serves as co-director for the Beef Systems Center of Excellence that is designed to grow the state’s meat processing and cattle feeding industries.
