Carla Gross, Associate Professor, was selected to participate in the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) in Washington, D.C. April 14-16, 2010. The institute, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, was designed to prepare nursing faculty to teach quality and safety content in the baccalaureate registered nursing program. This train the trainer initiative incorporates interactive coursework focusing on six core competencies: patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, patient safety, and informatics. Carla hopes to learn information which can be incorporated into an interprofessional education course for the College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Science.
