Linda Kibot, a first year DNP student at NDSU College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Sciences, applied for and received the AACN Professional Advancement Scholarship to attend the Nurse In Washington Internship (NIWI) organized by The Nursing Organizations Alliance.

This opportunity to attend the 2010 NIWI which starts March 14^th through 16^th, will open doors to an exciting adventure into the world of policy and politics.  It will also give Linda an opportunity to network with other nurses with similar clinical and political interests. Some of the objectives of the internship include; describing how nurses can be involved and influence policy at the local and national level, identifying techniques to advance legislative issues at the grassroots level, identifying legislative, political, and economic forces driving health care policy and delivery changes today. This is an exciting time at our nation’s capital and Linda is thrilled for the opportunity to meet with legislators from North Dakota and to discuss her believes about some of the issues affecting our health care system.
