Senior NDSU nursing student Hallie Nupdal was recently recognized as a Rising Star finalist for the Association of Residential Resources in the state of Minnesota. This recognition highlights direct support professionals who demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality care.
ARRM Cares Rising Star award recognizes the top tier of direct support professionals and their commitment to provide stellar care and support to Minnesota’s disability community. Nupdal, a native of Hallock, Minnesota, was among five nominees for the award. She provides care to clients with Creative Care for Reaching Independence (CCRI) in Moorhead, Minnesota.
“I provide one-on-one care to my clients in the comfort of their own homes. I assist them with their activities of daily living as well as helping them achieve their personal goals,” said Nupdal. “I choose to do this type of work because it is so unbelievably rewarding. CCRI says we are the clients ‘daymakers’ but I truly feel like my clients are my ‘daymakers,’” she said.
CCRI Executive Director Shannon Bock recognized Nupdal’s contributions.
“Congrats on being selected as an ARRM Cares finalist – you truly are one of the best of the Best!” said Bock in a recognition letter. “We are extremely proud of you because it really is an honor to be nominated as you are truly being recognized among outstanding men and women in your profession. On behalf of those you support, thank you for everything you do. Your contributions really do make a difference.”
In addition to attending classes and serving as a direct support professional, Nupdal maintains an internship at Sanford Medical Center on the in-patient oncology floor. She plans to graduate with her bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from NDSU in December 2022.
The NDSU School of Nursing in the College of Health Professions provides bachelor’s and graduate nursing education. Programs are available for part- and full-time students, working professionals and those seeking online educational opportunities.
